New word...

As mentioned Aidan has begun trying all kinds of new words, some we understand and some we dont. All in all it is very neat to hear him getting around obstacles in communicating. He is doing quite well!

The other day I was changing his bum because he was stinky. We usually joke around a bit to get the job done as he is very squirmy and doesnt sit still for long. So I was saying things like, "boy do you have a stinky bum!" and making faces and stuff like that. He looks up at me with one finger beside his mouth and smiles that big grin he has. He looks at me and says, "Dookie!" then laughs and laughs. It took me a sec, because we never use that word to describe "poop". Then I just started to laugh! So he laughed and said it again!

Thank you "Elmo's Potty Time" for teaching my son a new word for poop. I'm not sure how grateful I am yet...

The big bed...

Aidan is now on his fourth night in the the big bed. He had been asking us for a couple weeks to sleep in it so we finally decided, why not.

Naps have been great for him and he has made a little "nest" to sleep in. He is still not sure that he likes not having a bottle before bed any more (cost of the big bed is no bottle). All in all he seems to be dealing pretty well with it.

It will be be nice when we can take the crib down for a few months until the new baby arrives- all being well- and we'll move it somewhere else.

So big!

Talkin' away

Aidan has been trying out new words for a few months now, but has pretty much stayed to using just one word at a time. He has well over 50 words - I've lost count because he will now parrot words that you say.

Today we came down for breakfast and got all settled in eating oatmeal and the usual breakfast fare when he says, "Morning Lilly, morning Mommy, morning, Daddy." He is looking at each of us directly, smiles, and continues eating. How cool is that? We were so proud.

What is funny though is that he cant say "L" yet so Lilly comes out as "yee-yee".

Before this the longest bunch of words strung together was, "put in bowl!" But that was a while ago.

Our little boy is growing up!

Adendum to the Remembrance Day post

I forgot to mention this when I posted the Remembrance Day pictures earlier. I do think it's important to get the kids exposed to the meaning of Remembrance Day so I had tried to prep Lilly before we went by simply explaining what it was about.

I told her that we go to this ceremony to remember all the people who fought in a really big war a long time ago. I also told her that lots of people died in the war and some people didnt. I explained that there would be a parade of flags and lots of people in uniform. She took all this in and simply asked me, " Mommy are there going to be people in the parade who aren't dead?"

I said there sure would be... and I stopped there. (out of the mouths of babes!)
